PEN ARGYL BOROUGH NEWS

NOVEMBER 2021

 

·        LEAF COLLECTION, WEATHER PERMITTING, WILL CONTINUE UNTIL 12/10, EXCEPT FOR WEEK OF 11/22 IN ORDER TO INSTALL HOLIDAY LIGHTING.

·        TREE LIGHTING - 12/1, 6:00 P.M., BOROUGH HALL, 11 N. ROBINSON AVENUE.

·        CHILDREN’S DRIVE THRU HOLIDAY PARTY – 12/3, 6:00 P.M. -8:00 P.M. LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY ENTRANCE ON S. MAIN STREET.

 

NOVEMBER 8TH COUNCIL MEETING

·       Agreed to demolish Weona Park pool.

·       Directed Borough Manager to present Resolution for the proposed updated zoning and building code fees. Last updated 2008.

·       Approved the SBRPD 2022 Budget.

·       Directed Solicitor to present amendment to Regional Police Ordinance for budget formula.

·       Appointed Phyliss Pugliesi to Park Board vacancy.

·       Adopted Ordinance #715 to amend the Park Ordinance to include Parcel C.

·       Approved additional costs for design by Colliers Engineering & Design for the Main Street Force Main and Babbitt Street Projects.

·       Approved up to $159,016.27 for replacement of Borough Hall Windows, utilizing Keystone Purchasing Network.

·       Agreed to contract with Non-Nonsense Neutering for 2022 with 20 more vouchers.

 

PUBLIC WORKS

            During the month of October, the Public Works Department performed scheduled maintenance tasks and completed all requested tasks.

ZONING/CODE DEPARTMENT

In October, the following permits were issued: 1 electrical and 1 residential alteration. Processed 3 zoning applications. Also completed: 1 residential re-sale property inspection; 1 commercial and 2 rental inspections. Landlords are reminded to contact the Zoning Officer to schedule inspection of rental properties to comply with the Licensing of Rental Properties Ordinance. Violators may be fined. SLATE BELT REGIONAL POLICE

Contact information for the SBRPD is:  911 (Emergency), 610-759-8517 (non-Emergency) and

610-759-8523 (Fax). In September officers responded to 420 calls for service, with 143 in Pen Argyl.

LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY

            Lookout Fire Company’s website: www.lookoutfireco.com or check out their Facebook page. Lookout is always looking to grow their volunteer family, contact them if you are interested in becoming a volunteer. http://lookoutfireco.com/downloads/

 

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly, and quarterly sampling was done, all comply. Monitoring reports and lab results are compiled and submitted as required. Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance completed. Answered and marked 25 PA One Calls. UV System 4 bulbs replaced. Equalization tanks cleaned. Pumps repaired. SBR blowers serviced. Scheduled maintenance on UV system.

 

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. You can also mail your payments to: Pen Argyl Tax Collector, 501 George Street, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Please call 610-863-9487 if you have any questions.

 

BOROUGH NEWSLETTER

            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It is on our website at www.penargylborough.com .   You can receive the newsletter by email by contacting: manager@penargylborough.com and requesting it. You will need to provide your name, address, and email contact. You can also find us on Facebook.

Garbage/Recycling –Garbage collection is every Friday. Garbage will be delayed to 11/27 due to Thanksgiving Holiday. Recycling will be on November 5th & 19th as well as December 3rd, 17th & 31st. Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.
